The Sword tactical Destroyer is a mid weight starship superweapon owned by the Republic of Sol. The space ship is fit with dual aeon warp thrusters, 4 defensive turrets with dual particle energy cannons, and one large high energy plasma beam with enough punch to cut through most capital ships like a hot knife through butter.
It's high energy plasma beam, as a 200 foot sword-shaped gun, fittingly stands out as the most prominent feature of the craft. Due to the ship's large size and therefore high maintenance, when captured or sold on the black market, the laser is most often used as a defensive battery, sold for expensive parts, or simply turned into a glorified (and overpowered) mining laser, it being able to cut large asteroids in half. Despite the misuse, it still comes in handy, as its large defensive turrets do well to protect nearby spacecraft from space pirates or gankers.
Though formidable, the Sword tactical destroyer shows its weakness when ambushed by a mid sized fleet of combat frigates or challenged by a number of smaller destroyers. This craft is best used well behind the front lines as a sniper or ranged assault ship, leaving the defensive turrets to clean up any small spacecraft breaking through the front lines.
Basically, space is a dangerous place, and this ship isn't helping.
I designed the Sword interstellar warship after being inspired by games like Eve online or Star Citizen. After hours of playing Eve, I became restless over my limited ability to design my own space ships, but became enamoured by the "built your own business" aspect of the game.
Finally, I got sick of it, opened blender, and started whipping together my own model ships. I would build my own REAL life starships and sell them to REAL people like you and me. Thanks Eve. And thanks Star citizen for having gawkingly beautiful spacecraft that dramatically inspired my own sci fi designs.
